closes at 5:00 p.m. (U.S. Eastern Standard Time) February 15, 2008.
General
Information
Each Abstract will be reviewed by members of the
Scientific Committee with expertise in the topic. Abstracts may be selected for
oral and/or poster presentation during assigned sessions at the 2008 MASCC/ISOO
Supportive Care in Cancer Symposium. Only one author (usually the primary
author) may participate in the oral presentation.
Authors may submit Abstracts of completed work, work in progress, or work presented at a local or regional
level. Do not submit Abstracts that have already been published. The primary
author is responsible to obtain written consent from all authors and
appropriate institutions prior to submitting an Abstract.
The trade name of a drug
should not be included in the title of the Abstract. Whenever required for clarity, the trade name should only be
mentioned once between brackets in the body of the Abstract. All direct or indirect industry support
should be disclosed by simply stating at the bottom of the Abstract, i.e.
“Supported by…” Industry support will be defined as any support for conducting
the study, analyzing the data, preparation of the abstract/presentation, or
supporting traveling expenses.
Employees of business
corporations may submit Abstracts that feature their employers’ products or
services if they fully disclose their employment and/or financial involvement.
Accepted Abstracts may not be sales presentations and can not imply any
endorsement of said products or services by MASCC or ISOO. The individual
accepted in the oral sessions or poster sessions must make this clear during
his or her session.
At least one author of accepted poster Abstracts must be present at their posters during an assigned session to allow for dialogue with participants. Poster sessions may run concurrently with other Symposium sessions.
Submission
Guidelines
1. Online Abstract submission
is the only method for submitting an Abstract. The instructions are available on the MASCC
Website: www.mascc.org.
2. Each MASCC or ISOO member
or Symposium registrant may submit only one Abstract as primary author. Members
may submit any number of Abstracts as second, third, or subsequent authors.
3. Authors (including
students) or institutions cannot submit more than two Abstracts on the same
topic or from the same data set.
4. You do not have to be a member of MASCC or ISOO to
submit an Abstract, but you must be a registrant for the Symposium to qualify
for Abstract publication, presentation and awards.
5.
For Abstracts with more than one author, the primary author is to be considered
the contact person.
6.
Authors selected for oral or poster presentations must pay the Symposium
registration fee.
7.
Abstracts must be no more than 300 words (excluding the title and authors’
names). Abstracts that contain more
than 300 words will not be reviewed.
8.
Accepted Abstracts will be published in the June edition of the Journal of
Supportive Care in Cancer. Incomplete Abstract submissions will not be
considered. Authors may resubmit Abstracts as long as they meet the submission
deadline.
